"John and Kate Harman retired from New York City to run a small country store in Sugar Hill. In 1955, John bought 3.5 tons of "forgotten" cheddar Cheese from a salesman. This cheese had been sitting in a warehouse for 18 months. Mr. Harman took his expertise in advertising and his love of good cheese and turned that purchase into "Harman's Cheese". The Harmans died in 1980, and employee, Maxine Aldrich, purchased the business to carry on the Harman's tradition of delicious products and good customer service. Each year 12 tons of Cheddar Cheese is made specifically for us in up-state New York and purposely aged for 2 full years before we offer it to you. Along with this cheddar, we offer a choice selection of other flavored cheddars and condiments to compliment the cheeses. Maxine continues to work at the store with her daughter, Brenda Aldrich. Customer service is still our priority."
