Almost 50% of food is wasted each year in America! With just a couple of easy tips we can reduce the food waste from 150,000,000,000 pounds to a much lower number. Many people forget about their delicious and nutritious produce that they stuffed all the way in the back of their refrigerator after returning home from grocery shopping. A smart solution to this popular problem is simply organization! Create a box or basket in the front of your fridge and fill it with your produce. Don’t mix your fruits and veggies this will cause them to spoil quicker. Other quick tips to keep certain veggies from going bad is to get their stems in a little water, veggies like celery, carrots, and kale stems will last longer if they are in water! Who knew?!
Many folks chose to jar their vegetables and fruit before they go bad, and this trick will save you money in the future and then once your canned produce has fermented you will have created nutrients that are much easier for you body to absorb and therefore to use as well. Another way to a healthier more sustainable you!
